Polaroid 600

This website is designed to give you quality information and direct you to merchants who sell quality Polaroid instant film products.

Polaroid 600 Platinum film is a general-purpose, medium contrast and high speed integral film forinstant color prints of high definition. The film specially blanced for daylight and film exposure. If you have a Polaroid SX-70 (introduced around 1973).. lying around in a drawer or a box in the basement that hasn’t been used for years, SX-70 film packs, which are not known as Polaroid “Time Zero” film, have been out of production for years and have all but disappeared from stores.. one of the only places to find it is online at eBay or other auction sites. Time Zero film sells for extremely high prices.. You’re now asking yourself, can I use Polaroid 600 film in my SX-70 camera? Yes and No.

Polaroid 600 film has an ASA speed of 600.. Time Zero film, on the other hand, was 2 stops slower.. the SX-70 does not have film speed adjustment.. 600 film packs, though similar to Time Zero film packs, also have small metal tabs on them that are not found on the Time Zero film.. which makes it difficult to even fit into the SX070.. How can you remedy this?

The SX-70 CAN be modified in several different ways to allow it to work with Polaroid 600 film and expose properly.. and a way to get around the small metal tabs that make it so the film doesn’t fit.

This means both a physical modification as well as modifying the internal circuit of the camera is necessary.

A Neutral Density (ND) filter can be purchased, that snaps on the front of the camera next to the shooting lens, but that’s not a permanent solution.

The ultimate solution is to have a professional make both the physical and internal modifications, but this will cost you. it can cost upwards of $100.00 for these modifications to be made by a pro. You’ll have to do some research to find someone in your area who can make these mods but most can have this completed within a day or two.

So, in conclusion, if you want to use Polaroid 600 film in an SX-70 or similar camera, you’ll need to modify the camera both physically and electronically, but if the mod is done properly, 600 film WILL work correctly in a modified SX-70.. There really isn’t any reason your camera has to go unused.

On the other hand, you can use the Time Zero film, but it will cost you as much as the camera is worth just to buy the film.
